Meet your new household hero

Say goodbye to clutter and hello to ultimate simplicity. Since 2009, homes across the world have swapped a shelf of single-purpose products for one bottle of Scott's 4 in 1 — handcrafted in small batches in sunny Queensland, Australia.

It started with a simple question: why does every job in the house need its own bottle of chemicals? Scott set out to build one plant-powered formula that could genuinely pull its weight — from the laundry room to the garden — without the fumes.

The result is a multipurpose spray built entirely from botanical plant essences: pine, tea tree, lemongrass, citronella and orange, blended for real performance and a scent people actually love.

The Story of Scott's 4 in 1 Multipurpose

This website originally began as a source for people to re-order Scott's 4 in 1, a 100% non-toxic multipurpose spray. What started as a single search for a better air freshener became a formula that traveled the Pacific, changed names five times, and ended up in thousands of homes.

2001

Timberland Meadow is born

The very first version of the formula is invented, under the name Timberland Meadow.

2004 · Los Angeles, CA

The search for something better

The search continues for an auto and room air freshener that's 100% natural and non-toxic — one that not only smells good, but stays in the air long enough to actually deodorize and remove odors, without any toxic chemicals. After researching numerous essential oil combinations, Scott's original 4 in 1 is born in Los Angeles, first named Timberland Meadow, then Royals Comfort.

Seattle, WA & eBay

Two names, two markets

The first batch sells for two months in Seattle, Washington under the name "Royals Comfort," while additional batches sell on eBay under the name Timberland Meadow. Sales are so slow at this time that the product is discontinued.

2008 · San Jose, CA

A different response

Sales are tried again — and this time the response is much different. People want a green product that's non-toxic and safe for the environment.

The Pacific Rim Tour

Royals Comfort becomes Mightyz

A journey begins that includes Hawaii, Oregon, a return to Washington State, and Southern California. Along the way, Royals Comfort is re-named Mightyz. Many people serious about sustainable household products in California become the privileged first few customers to enjoy Scott's new formulation.

Oahu, Hawaii

Scott's Hawaiian 4 in 1

After about two years selling on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, Mightyz is renamed Scott's Hawaiian 4 in 1 — made possible by large numbers of repeat customers submitting feedback about the many co-uses they'd discovered. Because it was no longer used as just an air freshener, the decision is made to list its numerous other uses, and the name "Hawaiian Multipurpose 4 in 1" is born.

2011 · Back in the U.S.

Scott's 4 in 1 Multipurpose Spray

After returning to the United States in 2011, the product attains its final name — Scott's 4 in 1 Multipurpose Spray — where it has stayed ever since.

View the original label — every multipurpose use, straight from the bottle

Over the past decade, Scott's 4 in 1 has evolved from a normal car air freshener to a complete multipurpose spray, covering a broad spectrum of uses, including: an all-purpose deodorizer especially suited to pet owners, as dog odors are 100% eliminated; sprayed on furniture or rugs dogs chew on to stop the chewing/biting (without staining); a complete laundry odor remover; a full natural itch reliever for athlete's foot, psoriasis, eczema or other skin disorders; and an all-purpose insect repellent that repels flies, mosquitoes and even bed bugs.

The secret is in the plant essences

Scott's 4 in 1's power comes from 100% natural, non-toxic plant essences — essential oils long used for natural healing. The most common is Tea Tree, which is anti-bacterial. The remaining ingredients are Tea Tree Oil, a natural disinfectant, and natural Pine Oil.

Pet Rinse
Spray onto your pet before rinsing, or add 2 tablespoons per gallon of rinse water for bath time — the natural lemongrass leaves a fresh scent pets (and their people) love. Always dilute as directed and check with your vet first, especially for cats — see safety notes.
Laundry Freshener
Add 2 tablespoons to your rinse cycle to freshen clothes naturally, or mist the inside of your dryer drum between loads.
Counters & Sinks
A quick spritz cleans and freshens countertops and sinks — no harsh fumes, just a light plant-powered scent.
Floors
Add 2 tablespoons per gallon of mop water for floors that feel freshly cleaned, room to room.
Wrinkle-Free Ironing
Mist fabrics before ironing for a crisp, wrinkle-free finish and a light natural scent that lasts.
Garden Refresh
Dilute with water — add a drop of cayenne essential oil if you like — and spray onto plants for an all-natural refresh. [APPROVED USE CASES: confirm plant/species suitability before broad use.]
Refreshing Foot Soak
Add a small splash to a tub of warm water — optional Epsom salts welcome — for a soothing end-of-day soak.
Cooling Itch Comfort
Spray onto the itch and gently rub for a cooling, soothing sensation. Not a substitute for medical advice — see a doctor for persistent or severe skin irritation.
Stuck Zippers
A light spray directly on a stuck zipper helps it glide again in seconds.
Foot Odor
Spray onto socks and inside shoes to genly remove foot odors.
Natural Mice Deterrent
Unscrew the trigger and drop in fresh, unscented reed sticks — the natural scent that diffuses out is a traditional, low-effort way to make problem spots less inviting. A natural deterrent, not pest control — for an active infestation, consult a licensed pest professional.

Frequently asked

Is Scott's 4 in 1 safe around my pets?+
It's formulated from plant essences rather than harsh synthetic chemicals, but "natural" doesn't mean risk-free for every animal. Always dilute as directed, patch-test first, and check with your vet before use on or around pets — this matters especially for cats, who can be more sensitive to certain plant oils.
Will it stain clothes or fabric?+
It's formulated to be stain-free on most fabrics, but we still recommend a quick patch-test on delicate or dry-clean-only materials before full use.
What's actually in the bottle?+
Plant essences of pine, tea tree, lemongrass, citronella and orange. See the full ingredient list on the bottle label above, or [INGREDIENT LIST / SAFETY DATA SHEET — link when available].
Can I use it around children?+
The formula is plant-derived, but as with any household spray, keep it out of reach of children, avoid contact with eyes, and supervise use.
Where is it made?+
Handcrafted in small batches in Queensland, Australia, since 2009.
